Michael Wainwright Pottery
Michael Wainwright specializes in handmade porcelain dinnerware, bowls and serving dishes hand painted with 22k gold and platinum.Michael Wainwright has spent a lifetime designing ceramics. He was introduced to clay at a very early age and educated in schools with a strong emphasis in the arts, culminating in a master's degree in sculpture. Having also worked as a jeweler, Michael became intrigued with finding a way to join metal and clay. While studying in Italy he was inspired by the halos and angels of Giotto, Cimabue, and other early Italian masters. He was also attracted to the use of precious metals in architecture, such as in San Marco in Venice, and the Duomo in Florence. Michael has combined these experiences in creating an elegant line of handmade porcelain. Since establishing Michael Wainwright Pottery in 1991, he now sells to stores and galleries across the country and around the world.
